a San Francisco Giants fantasy baseball league
How to Play
- Every week, you choose a Giants player
- During that week, you accumulate the stats for that player
- You can choose a hitter or a pitcher
Game Rules
- You can only choose an individual player once during the season (e.g. if you pick Matt Chapman the first week of the season, you will not be able to pick him again for any other week of the season)
- There are 26 weeks in a baseball season, and 26-man rosters (plus turnover), so you will need to pick the majority of players at some point during the season
- You can only choose a player that appeared in a game the previous week
- Weeks run Monday through Sunday
- If you fail to choose a player before Monday, you accumulate no stats for that week (or you get a player randomly assigned; TBD)
Scoring & Standings
- Hitter categories: Batting Average, Homeruns, Runs, RBIs, Stolen Bases
- Pitcher categories: ERA, WHIP, Wins, Strikeouts, Saves + Holds
- In an 8 player league (total TBD), the team with the highest total (or lowest for ERA/WHIP) for each category will get 8 points. Next will get 7, then 6, etc. Ties are averaged (i.e. if two teams are 2nd best, they will each get 6.5 points).
- Points for all categories are totaled for the overall team score
- Most points at the end of the season wins
- No money is involved
How to Pick Your Player
- Near the end of every week, you will get an email with a list of all the players that played that week that you have not yet chosen (and are thus eligible for the following week)
- You click a link in the email to select that player for the following week
- At some point, I (Seth) hope to include the probable starters and Giants schedule for the upcoming week
Frequently Asked Questions
- When is the first week/game? Opening day is Thursday, 4/27. There are only 3 games the first week, so don't pick anyone too good, as they will not accumulate a lot of stats.
- Why is it called DIY? Because I wanted a baseball.something domain and there weren't a lot of choices. Plus, I'm generally a DIY'er and I am building this fantasy baseball platform from scratch, so I figured it fit well enough.
